Modern Information Society
At the
moment the concept of "modern information society" includes one of
those theoretical models which are used to describe the new informational stage
of development, the foundations for which are not only industrialized, but
information and telecommunication technologies. The
development of computer, information and communication. technologies,
their gradual penetration into various spheres of social life gave rise to the
emergence of a number of scientific studies that deal in different ways with
the problem of relations between information technologies and society. A number of
information society concept researchers influenced by a wide development of the
Internet and with the advent of so-called "new economy model" has
shifted to information and communication components of social development.Other
researchers are trying to build up a comprehensive theoretical model of a new
social system. In this regard, there are various names: information society,
network society, informationalism, a society based on knowledge. Now the concept of the “knowledge society” is
widely promoted (the basis of this concept is the humanization of globalization
process); it is opposed to the concept of the “information society”. However,
currently there is no any scientific
justification for the use of a new term "knowledge society". Applied
computer science covers a wide high-tech field of activities with recent
advances in information and communication technologies. Being
integrated into society, applied Informatics includes several aspects:
In the process of modern information society development the requirements
to a specialist in applied Informatics are as follows:
- a system
thinking and a systematic approach to ensure the smooth
- work and
development of informational-computational infrastructure
- of
organizations, corporations, government, territory, etc.
Therefore, every aspect in the field of applied Informatics requires the implementation of practical activities: the use of modern technologies and methods of management of corporate knowledge and information resources of the organization; principles of organization of information exchange; improvement of skills to create tools of knowledge management and information exchange; effective project management of information systems and processes for delivering information services; exercise control over the use of effective, adequate protection of data, their processing technologies and using the information extracted from them.
